Realizing that I am “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”, I decided to do
something about it. I decided to change
direction and move toward wellness. I
went to the “Join the Reboot” website and got a strategy for change and some
recipes for my first week.
Reboot Rules
§ When juicing
you need to ‘eat from the rainbow‘. This means to ingest produce from
the color spectrum available in plant form; green, red, yellow, orange, purple
and white. Leafy green are the most healthful so tip the scales a little
towards your green juices.
§ Follow the
80/20 rules,
which means each juice should contain 80% vegetables and 20% fruit. This is
really the only rule to a juice fast. You can ignore it but it would not be
wise. Of course, it’s often the fruit that makes a juice palatable, but the
sugar is absorbed quickly into your blood stream requiring your pancreas to
produce insulin to metabolize it. If you break this rule you will find you have
spikes and rapid crashes in energy, and may not feel so good in the long run.
§ The only exception
to the 80/20 rule is in the mornings. If you want or need a fruit based
juice have it in the morning and allow your body time to use it rather than
bombarding it with more sugar all day.
§ Have a
minimum of 4 x 500ml (16oz) to 600ml (20oz) juices each day. The optimum
amount is 6. You can have more if you wish.
§ Make sure
you also have 2ltrs (64oz) water each day.
Example
Juice Day:
§ 7am: Make
all my juices and store in fridge in single serve glass jars
§ 8am: Banana
Boost
§ 10am:
Meanish Green
§ 12pm: C+
§ 2pm: Meanish
Green
§ 4pm: Meanish
Green
§ 6pm: Sunset
Juice
So, here is my plan

Rebekah and
I went to the grocery and bought all of this stuff (and then some) for a cost
of around $200. However, after I began juicing I realized that I have more like
a 2 weeks supply because most juice recipes make two servings. So the cost/week is around $100. We bought the Kale and Apples in bulk for a
considerable savings.
That’s
it for our plans. Soon we’ll be posting
some more recipes and pictures.
